Yesterday, after a long and relaxing day on the beach at Platja dels Balmins, we headed into central Sitges for drinks and dinner. We had a couple of drinks – and some excellent people-watching – sitting outside Parrots, then moved on to my favourite eatery here in Sitges: L’Avinyet.
I discovered it last year with colleagues and have been back a few times since. It’s a small, but very welcoming, tapas restaurant, where you can easily spend an entire evening grazing through their menu.
Between Frank and I, we enjoyed several plates of deliciousness, including the best tortilla espanola I’ve ever tasted. It was perfect in terms of consistency, flavour and temperature and I honestly think I could have eaten three of four times the portion I wolfed down.
We also had some delicious albondigas (meatballs) in a superb sauce, an interesting take on the traditional patatas bravas – with skins on – chicken croquettes and oh so simple, but perfect pan con tomate. We left very full and very happy to have spent a portion of our evening is such a welcoming and lively place.
I’d definitely recommend L’Avinyet to anyone planning a trip to Sitges. We ate like kings and, including a drink each, left with a bill of a little over 40 euro.
